I can’t stand to see a woman wear a huge belt around her bulbous gut. Then you have some dark skin women with white make-up around their eyes. I don’t know that’s part of a Fashion or not but it’s terrible looking. I hate seeing some women wearing that junk. What are some fashion styles or statement, you find unattractive on the opposite sex?

I consider myself open-minded but those male purse things annoy me. I don’t mind if a transwoman wears a purse but any other man looks strange to me with one. Sorry.

Those low sagging pants infuriate me. It was one thing when only a few guys did it, and not so low, and not all the time, like Tupac. I could say, "ah…just a little thing". Seeing lots of men dress this way and having the pants near their ankles is disgusting, to me.

Men in those "skinny jeans" tended to look like chickens or something, to me. The rock band guys looked cool and some junior high boys. But most of the rest of the male population looked like they ought to be out on the farm picking up corn kernels and crowing in the morning.

Only a few skateboarders and hip hop emcees looked good with turned around caps. Most of the rest remind me of Bazooka Joe or some other cartoon character.

***I recognize that as I am not paying for the clothes of all these people that my opinion doesn’t really count.****

A thing of beauty is a joy forever! This thought holds complete significance in the fashion industry. It is an exciting industry that attracts many brilliant, ambitious, creative, talented, committed and hard working people. Success in the fashion industry calls for an ultimate passion and enthusiasm to achieve set targets. The desires to create, see, explore and appreciate beauty must be inherent. It’s a creative field and one needs to possess as well as acquire certain skills that are indispensable, such as thinking creatively beyond the obvious and the ability to carve a niche in almost all the possible projects by making it different yet stunning than the previous one.

Careers in the fashion industry revolve around beauty. In order to be successful in this field you should have the unquenchable thirst for beauty in its all-relevant forms. Changing fashion statements determine the change in the trend of clothing, ornamenting and above all, adopting new ways of carrying oneself.

It is the style that brings elegance with a difference in different designs. Style is an individual aspect. No two people can have exactly the same style statement because every person has a unique style of their own. Therefore, the concepts related to fashion are also different. Some people feel that fashion is the passion of the slaves and that is why they try to dress and carry themselves in a manner similar to that of models walking on the ramp. This thought is challenged by a different thought; those who go against the fashion trends are themselves the slaves of the fashion.

No matter what different concepts abound, Fashion is a career industry that is never going to fade. There are immense opportunities in this field, as you can opt for any of the following job prospects pertaining to your areas of interest: modeling, catwalk choreography, fashion photography, designing, merchandising, make-up artists, hair styling, and accessory designing.

Modeling: Modeling is a promising career that requires having a certain confidence and a pleasing appearance that needs to confirm to the basic standards of fashion designers. One needs to have an inclination towards glitz and glamour, as it is part and parcel of this industry.

Catwalk Choreography: Catwalk Choreography aims at training models to present their attire in an appealing and professional way. Designers hire talented choreographers because they know that every movement with the background music counts on the ramp. It can make or break an entire fashion show.

Fashion Photography: Fashion Photography is a very demanding career that requires the utmost dedication, sincerity, sensitivity and at the same time objectivity towards the subjects. It is the job of the fashion photographer to present clear expression to almost all the possible facets of style such as fabric, design, designer, model and the like.

Fashion Designing: Fashion designing is one of the most promising careers in fashion industry. It needs to have the ability to think, comprehend and implement the latest and original ideas in order to be successful in this field. Designers can specialize in apparel, textile, accessory designer and many more.
Fashion Coordinator: A fashion coordinator is responsible for coordinating fabrics and trimmings, quality and design. He/she needs to keep a constant track of production schedules and needs to be aware of the status of buyers’ orders.

There are several career options that need to be explored by aspiring students. You can certainly excel in this field provided you believe in the proverb; “work is worship” and have immense potential to rise and make your mark in the fashion industry.

I owned a fashion boutique but I gave it to my sister because she wanted to open her own one too and I realised that I want to become a writer for fashion for Heat! Magazine. Since I already have an eye for fashion since my Business is running, I think I will have a chance. I’ve opened this boutique for over 4 years now, but I don’t have a degree. It’s all self taught.

easy… write something… and submit it… and althought you may not like this answer, getting into ANY periodical / glossy publishing house is a distant on the horizon dream…you will probably be a stringer or freelancer, staff positions dont happen overnight… and getting IN can take many years of hard work… the big glossies employ the cream… they pay, and they choose… and thier decisons are always based on a solid dependable proven track record… this is a high presure environment… i publish a small community newspaper.. a mere 30 pages once a month… ive never missed a deadline… can you say that?

because at 3am, when your art director is screaming down the phone and the deadline is 6 hours away… youd better not have writers block… and your copy has to be precise, concise and on time.

try it, base the article on your own experience, your own boutique… shoot a few frames, and write 2000 words… then rewrite it, to 1000 words… and again, to 500… which is roughly 1 page of A4…
and submit it to your local community newspaper… (treat it as advertising for the boutique) and see where it goes… you can also enrol at the local community colleges for writing workshops..

What a lot of people don’t realise is that many fashion design businesses have started out as just a small home business. In a lot of cases these businesses would even have been started from their kitchen table or spare bedroom. The fashion business is definitely a business which could be started from home and on a very small budget.

Laura Ashley was one such designer who started her design business on her kitchen table in London. She went on to build a very successful international design business.

Another international fashion designer whose fashion design talent was sown in his own home and at a very early age was the designer, Bruce Oldfield.

They, amongst other designers, have inspired many to live out their dream of owning their own fashion design business and following their footsteps to success.

The fun and pleasure of creating your own designs can start at any age. Once the fashion bug takes hold, it can be a very exciting and exhilarating time. The
adrenaline will constantly being stirred by the creation and completion of new designs. These designs may have been inspired by the most unusual items, such as a brick, the sunset, an old pattern, an architectural building, or any item.

If you find yourself sketching or doodling designs on every spare piece of paper, then you most likely have a hidden talent yourself for being a fashion designer.

Why not give yourself the opportunity to start a fashion business from your own home?

You could specialise in various niches, including women’s clothing, full size clothing, gothic clothing etc. One way of starting your business would be to create a few samples of your designs and then promote them with the help of friends at house parties to find out if they are marketable.

When you have completed this initial research, you should then take your new business to the next level, which would be to prepare your business plan.

There are certain qualities required to run a fashion design business and two of the most important ones are, tenacity and determination. There will be many times when

working on your fashion business that you will feel like giving up and this will be entirely because of the enormous amount of work involved. This is when the tenacity quality will be required. You will have to have enough determination to achieve all the dreams you have for your fashion business success.

When it comes to a beautiful outfit, nothing completes a look like a well-chosen fashion accessory. You may be wearing the perfect little black dress or the sleek and sophisticated pant suit but until you pair it with a fashion accessory it never quite becomes the full expression of which it is capable.

A fashion accessory can mean many different things to different people. For the shoe enthusiasts among us, no outfit is worth wearing without a stunning and complementary pair of shoes. There are certainly a bevy of beautiful shoes on the market today made by creative designers who know what looks good. But don’t be afraid to check out vintage stores where you could easily find a pair of classic shoes reflective of that period in history. Pairing the contemporary with the vintage is a great way to create drama and interest.

For others, a fashion accessory may mean a unique belt that goes with a great pair of jeans – taking the ordinary to the extraordinary; or a purse to offset elegant eveningwear. Ladies’ handbags are always popular vintage items, so you’ll be sure to find a number of beautiful bags in antique stores. Carrying a vintage bag to an elegant evening affair is a trend even seen on Hollywood’s red carpets.

However, when most people think of a fashion accessory they think of jewelry. Jewelry as a fashion accessory can complement any outfit and lend itself to casual clothing as well as eveningwear because of its versatility. Diamonds, crystal, silver, and gold – the jewelry that you choose will define your look; nothing changes the look of an outfit more. For this reason, jewelry is by far the most influential fashion accessory.

Finding the fashion accessory that complements a particular outfit depends largely on your personal style. That perfect fashion accessory may be waiting for you at your nearby mall or large Retail store. But when looking for a unique fashion accessory it’s imperative that you think creatively.

Hit the local antique stores where you will find a nod to the vintage fashion accessory. Pair a modern pair of pants with a 1950s piece of jewelry or a contemporary evening dress with an elegant 1920s scarf. The possibilities are endless when it comes to the fashion accessory. With the addition of a few pieces you are able to infuse the outfit with your personal style and elevate your look to the next level.

As a famous person once said, fashion doesn’t have to do with clothes only, but we can find it everywhere, in our ideas, in the way we lead our lives or in everything that’s happening around us. Fashion changes constantly and throughout the years, almost everything in our appearance that could experience change has already been changed Skirts are a very good example, their length going from so short that it hardly covers anything to up to the ankle. And what was once fashionable soon turned into unfashionable, and what was old quickly became new again. All of these fashion trends are inherent and they go as fast as they came. A certain style or action turns into a fashion trend when people copy it or try to follow it. Fashion trends become popular very quickly, but their loss of popularity is quite dramatic. The very essence of fashion trends is ‘here today, gone tomorrow’, so anything else that lasts longer and is eventually absorbed by society and turned into an everyday feature will no longer be a fashion trend.

Fashion trends come and go. If you’re a fashion victim, you’ll always have to be trendy. But being in accordance with the latest fashion trends is not always an easy task , not to mention the fact that chances are you won’t always look your best when you’re trying to be trendy. Everything looks great on models, but this doesn’t mean it will do the same magic for you. The best advice anyone could give you is to try to develop your own sense of style or at least try to choose from among the various styles that are already out there. After all, this is the fashion designers’ job and they do it very well. You can go for original garments or garments created according to pre-established fashion trends. All of these are high fashion and may be a little out of reach for you. What you can try is mass market design produced by retailers, which doesn’t come with a very impressive price tag. Whatever your choice may be, you have to keep one thing in mind, a well-dressed person always gets a second look. Your social and personal life will experience nothing but improvement if you have a strong sense of fashion and of the fashion trends.

One of the fashion designers that will always offer you products which keep up with the latest fashion trends is Zara, which is a part of a very fast growing retailer in the world. Their policy is to be competitive whilst maintaining affordable prices. The secrets of Zara’s success were the transfer of production to countries where the costs of production are low and the very unusual strategy of virtually no advertising. Zara chose to invest the money they would have spent with advertising for their products in opening new stores all over the world. Their stores can be found in all the important commercial areas from the big cities in America , Europe and Asia.

Any of Zara’s clients will experience the pleasure of buying clothes that keep up with the latest fashion trends. At Zara, the policy is to put the demands of the clients at the top of the priority list and be very closely related to the public. The clients’ wishes are quickly passed on to the creative professionals, and they make these demands come true.

Zara claims that the whole process of creating of a new product and launching it on the market only takes them two weeks and that, therefore, they are able to present thousands of new designs every year.

As far as their products are concerned, by always considering their clients’ wishes and demands, Zara follows the fashion trends that the society itself creates, at its own pace. No matter the difference among people or cultures, Zara will always be a success among those who have a thing for fashion. As a very famous designer said about Zara, they are of one of world’s most innovative Retailer.

Girls in their teens and in college are inundated with fashion from their friends and acquaintances. One can say they are immersed in Fashion and have to be very fashion conscious to not appear out of touch and to decide what to wear every day.

Here is some advice to help those girls keep up to date with the latest fashion trends.

There are different styles that come out every year. Most designers release at least two collections per year, during fall and spring, while others release four collections – one for every new season. It is really tough being sharp on all those new things considering the different styles that are introduced with all those new collections. Besides, not all styles fit all people.

Even though you would love to wear a particular outfit that looked really good on the model on the runway, it might look pretty odd and out of place when you wear it. The first key to narrowing down your focus is to zoom in on those collections and styles that fit your particular height, weight, and personality type.

If you want to be on the safe side, select one of the classic styles. They rarely go out of fashion. However, girls don’t always like wearing classic clothes so, how can they always be in fashion? A simple way to make girls fashion work for you is to choose from a collection that suits you best. For example, if a particular color suits your skin tone best, you can wear a top of that color with jeans or black pants, which don’t have to be from the same collection.

Accessorizing is another clever way of keeping up with the latest girls fashion without even having to wear clothes from the latest trends. Work with your body’s strong and weak point, and select accessories that will enhance your best features. Nobody is perfect. You need to hide your flaws and enhance your godd features, just like those seemingly perfect models that grace the catwalks of the fashion world.

A belt, scarf, hair clips or shoes can make all the difference in looking like an out of touch cave dweller and a hip fashion-conscious urban girl.

Make sure that you know what works for you and then find the fashion news sources that cover new collections and styles that suit you specifically. That way you can always be up to date with the latest girl fashion without suffering from information overload.

Before you make the big decision about whether to go to fashion merchandising school, it is a good idea to know exactly what is involved, what the curriculum is, how long it runs for and whether this type of career is really the best thing for you to focus on.

If you love fashion, you are probably a creative individual with your own ideas and inspirations. The whole fashion industry thrives on new ideas but with the best fashion designs in the world, if you do not know how to market them, no one will see your creations and this will ultimately lead to frustration.

The world of fashion design incorporates much more than simply design and production and it is a tough world to break into. There are thousands of aspiring designers and knowing what looks stylish is only a part of the battle for recognition. Willingness on your part to accept new ideas and study hard is absolutely essential.

In a fashion merchandising school, you will be taught how to promote your designs and arouse interest in potential consumers. You will learn how to recognise new trends and how to fine tune and improve your own designs.

There are many such schools to choose from so it depends what exactly you wish to learn. The most important things are to hone your merchandising skills to an art form and learn other relevant skills to help you attain success. When you are comparing schools, check their facilities, scholarship plans and the staff.

Unless you have plenty of money to spare, a scholarship can be crucial in covering your expenses. Nearly every fashion designer school can provide some kind of scholarship to help you out.

Before enrolment it is prudent to find out what sort of equipment and facilities the school in question has on offer. You can use your own equipment if you prefer (and if you can afford it) but you need to know what to expect when you get there. Do some research on the teachers available at your chosen school. Find out if you can their qualifications and credibility. A great teacher can make the difference between a struggling student and a successful one.

Another very important factor is the student to teacher ratio. How many students is each teacher responsible for? Obviously, in a very large class, each individual student receives less attention from the teacher. If the classes are very large, you have to wonder why the school is economising on staffing. On the other hand, if the classes are very small, you should question why so few students have wanted to enrol there. Hands-on teaching methods would suffer if the class was enormous and this could result in a great deal of frustration for the student. Try to strike a happy medium – an average sized class is your safest bet.

Fashion merchandising school graduates ought to receive sufficient guidance after their training to enable them to reach the next step of their career. When you leave the school, it is very important to know what you will be doing next. If it is not the school policy to give you some kind of assistance in finding a job when you have completed the course, this should sound alarm bells. It can be difficult to get your first placement without the school’s help.

Elle is a magazine that stays on the leading edge of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle trends. This women’s magazine is published in 32 countries by Hachette Filipacchi Magazines (a French Company).Elle Magazine has become the world’s leading fashion magazine for every woman in today’s society. This magazine features fashion and beauty trends, lifestyles and personalities. Elle addresses new styles and runway trends in today’s fashion and beauty world. Elle also includes controversial issues in contemporary society to inform their subscribers of emerging talent across all areas of popular culture.Elle magazine features runway shows and great articles for readers with sophistication. Elle brings the superstar look to the average lady and allows you to find your most beautiful self at any age.The first new fashion and style magazine. Ablaze with bold color, fresh looks, new ideas.

Its what style setting women prefer to read. For a fashion magazine Elle is definitely one of the ones that includes a few real articles here and there, vs. your typical mindless fashion mag. Also, the fashion shots are artistic and creative.I would recommend Elle over many other fashion magazines. It’s tasteful and doesn’t contain crude sexual insight, but is entertaining and semi-factual. Article subjects differ and are constantly of interest.Elle has a memorable article in every other issue including interesting Fashion and beauty tips.

Elle is for affluent successful young women desiring couture fashion, beauty and fitness advice. Editorials are well written and entertaining.Elle provides what you expect from a fashion magazine – and more – catering to the fashionable, smart, sophisticated, woman interested in more than just fashion.Elle unlike other magazines, does a great job at keeping things simple. It boasts only four sections – On The Cover, Fashion,  Features and Beauty and Fitness. A big thumbs up from me on this aspect. I hate it when a magazine creates 12 categories for things that can be lumped into a couple. If you’re a female between the ages of 16 and 40, then the advertisements might be of interest to you. Products include make-up (Clinique, Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, Maybelline); clothing (Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger); jewelry (Swatch, Piaget, Fendi); and perfume (Giorgio Armani, Dior). Nothing original – I’m sure the same ads are appearing in all of the other fashion magazines.Discover everything you need to find the look you love. From cutting-edge runway trends to stylish steals and must-have accessories, ELLE Magazine helps you create your kind of chic.

Every issue is full of expert tips and secrets on hair, skin, make-up, health and fitness to keep you glowing. Elle sits somewhere between Vogue, Allure, and Marie Claire, without Vogue’s coldness or narcissistic qualities, and Allure’s sometimes vapid and repetitive articles about make-up trends, and with articles that are a bit more intelligent at times than Marie Claire’s. I like the fact that Elle also features an “Eco” or “Green” issue that supports and gives recognition to organic cosmetics, etc.To conclude my article i would have to say, is this brain surgery? No. Is this the best magazine ever published? No. But if you like female, fashion magazines that are thick on advertisements and have an article or two that appeal to you, pick Elle up, you won’t be disappointed.
