BioWare is no stranger to fantastic art, and episode four of Art of the Game takes you through the alien landscapes that populate the Mass Effect 2 universe. Derek Watts, the game’s art director, explains how environmental concept art is created, refined, and ultimately implemented into the final product. But locations are only half the job; characters go through just as many iterations, be it the drell assassin Thane or the biotic-infused krogan Grunt.
